The Eblen Center for Social Enterprise

The Eblen-Kimmel Center for Social Enterprise is designed to bring together the best practices of the public and private sectors in establishing programs and outreach to better serve and enhance our community.

Breaking away from the traditional molds, ideas, and methods of conventional nonprofit organizations, the Center for Social Enterprise establishes partnerships with companies and organizations to create programs to continue to serve the increasing number children, adults, and families seeking assistance in times of need that they may not be able to obtain elsewhere.

The Eblen-Kimmel Center for Social Enterprise looks to the forefront of a new generation of nonprofit organizations, ideas, and the new frontier of service that goes beyond the boundaries of established means and thought.

Why the Eblen-Kimmel Center for Social Enterprise?

The Eblen-Kimmel Center for Social Enterprise encourages community-oriented nonprofit organizations together with the private sector, not only to distribute donated funds, but also to actively create  new revenue used to help those in need.

The revenue stream generated by the Center will enable the Eblen-Kimmel Charitable Group to lower its overhead, provide more funding for assistance programs, and operate in a business like manner in the way it acquires resources.

The Center will also serve as a focal point for our area’s public and private sectors to come together to develop programs and partnerships to serve those in our community by utilizing meeting and conference areas and offices. There will also be a vast array of information and recourses located in the library and through the technological aspects and opportunities that the center will offer.

The Eblen-Kimmel Charitable Group will not change its mission, to assist children, adults, and families living with illnesses and disabilities in western North Carolina, with medication, medical supplies, food, heating and utility assistance, and other emergency needs. After the Center is completed, the Eblen-Kimmel Charitable Group will maintain an office in Asheville to make our services more accessible to our clients.

The Center Will Provide:

  • Affordable office space for area non- profit organizations in a modern facility to better further their mission and service to the community
  • The opportunity for those seeking assistance one location instead of having to travel to multiple sites
  • A positive and open setting for the public and private sector to come together to develop programs and partnerships to better address the needs and challenges of those in need in our community
  • A state-of-the-art education and event center that will offer meeting and classroom space to large or small groups, for conferences, events, and fund raisers
  • Strategically located near Henderson and Transylvania Counties, the Center will be a vehicle for both economic development and increased tourism within the region while fulfilling a vital role to continue the work of the Eblen-Kimmel Charitable Group as well as other non-profits
